The Northern Territories was a music project from Sweden that was founded in 1992 by John Alexander Ericson (vocals, instruments) and Stefan Sääf (vocals, instruments) in Uppsala .

With their compositions, the duo initially moved in the synth-pop environment, the first two releases were released by the Berlin record company Machinery . Due to the use of acoustic instruments, The Northern Territories gradually steered away from their electronic roots with the following works "Orange Moon" and "Satellite People".

Since the beginning of the new millennium, musician John Alexander Ericson , who now lives in Berlin, has been walking solo paths. His three albums "Songs For Quiet Souls", "Savannah Songs" and "Black Clockworks" consistently continued the style of the Northern Territories, but contain mostly symphonic ballads, enriched with restrained, sometimes sparing piano sounds and female vocals. Before his album "Songs From The White Sea" came out in 2010, Ericson released a record with the side project Stjarna a year earlier . Since 2011 he has been part of the duo My Empire Of Sound , whose debut album was released in 2013.
