The Pearl ( Arabic اللؤلؤة al-Lu'lu'a , DMG al-Luʾluʾa  'the pearl') is a 400-hectare artificial island about 330 m off the east coast in the emirate of Qatar . The highly indented island is easily accessible 20 kilometers north of Doha Airport and around 11 kilometers northeast of the center of the capital Doha .

The island and its infrastructure were built by the Cypriot construction company J&P . High-quality villas on the beaches, terraced houses and larger apartment houses are under construction in the three centers, some luxury hotels, schools, kindergartens, a row of shops, a shopping mall, other shops and numerous restaurants and mosques for a total of 30,000 people. Typical buildings from Tuscany, Provence, Catalonia and Andalusia are the models for the builders on the artificial island. Four marinas for several hundred yachts are also being built.

Marketing-oriented, the project is also known as “The Riviera Arabia”. It has the following quarters around a large central bay with an island and two smaller bays: Porto Arabia, Viva Bahriyah, Costa Malaz, Isola Dana, The Quartiers, La Plage Villas and Bahri Villas. As a special feature, nine small satellite islands connected by a road are offered in the east of the island for development with very large villas and their own boat harbor, which give "The Pearl" a particularly exclusive character.

Since it is hardly expected that the Qataris themselves will buy on "The Pearl" on a large scale, one relies on wealthy buyers, especially from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. The decision to purchase is made officially easier: Foreigners in Qatar, unlike z. B. in Dubai , a legally binding entry in the land register with full ownership rights also for partial ownership in the communal residential complexes.

Development on the archipelago began at the end of 2006, and around half of the large buildings were ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2009.
