The Poni-Tails were an American girls singing group from Lyndhurst , Ohio . Her biggest hit was Born Too Late in 1958.

history

The group was founded by Toni Cistone, Karen Topinka, and Patti McCabe in suburban Cleveland. They started singing at Brush High School, which they all attended. Karen Topinka left the group in 1958 and was replaced by LaVerne Novak. Music publisher Tom Ilius negotiated a deal with a local record label, Point Records, and they released their first single, Your Wild Heart .

A contract with ABC-Paramount followed and they released Come on Joey, Dance with Me with B-side Born Too Late . This B-side was the one that caught radio DJ's attention and became the group's biggest hit, reaching number 11 on the US R&B singles chart and number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1958.

ABC-Paramount tried to win the group for another five-year contract, but they turned it down. The members left the music industry and made careers in other areas in Ohio.
