The Towers

The Towers is a residential building in the small Scottish town of Kirkcaldy in the Council Area Fife . In 1971, the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish list of monuments in the highest monument category A.

The Towers was built in 1589. In the course of the 18th century the building was redesigned and the surrounding wall was added. In 1965 it was restored.

The three-story residential building is on East Quality Street in the center of the formerly independent community of Dysart , which is now part of Kirkcaldy. The three-story building has an L-shaped floor plan. Its masonry is plastered with Harl . On the street side, the stair tower with small windows emerges on the right. Its top floor protrudes. At the foot there is the crowned main portal with a combat window . Above the small lattice window above , a panel shows the year of construction and the monograms “CL” and “KL”. At the back there is another narrow stair tower on the left. An annex on the left is more recent. The final gable roofs are covered with gray slate. Its gables are designed as a simple stepped gable .
