The War Graves Photographic Project

The War Graves Photographic Project is a project that aims to take a photo of every war grave , every war memorial , every official memorial and every Ministry of Defense grave and save it in a database that can be accessed via the Internet is accessible.

The project began for soldiers who served in the British Army or in the Commonwealth ; it documented military cemeteries worldwide. First of all, graves and monuments were photographed from 1914 until today.

The project works as a joint venture with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and also assists the Office of Australian War Graves , the Canadian Veterans Affairs and the New Zealand Ministry of Heritage and Culture.

Families, researchers, and students can order prints. This service is specifically intended to serve older people who can no longer or do not want to travel.

As of December 11, 2011, 1,723,681 million images were uploaded. This was made possible through the cooperation of voluntary volunteers.
