The Work Foundation

The Work Foundation is a British charitable foundation based in London .

The foundation advises the UK business community and government and non-governmental organizations with the aim of improving economic performance, the quality of working life and optimizing the quality of life. More than 400 organizations belong to the foundation as "partners". Will Hutton has headed the think tank with 60 employees since 2000 .

The beginnings of the foundation can be traced back to The Boys' Welfare Association founded by Robert Hyde on April 3, 1918 . In 1919 the name was changed to The Industrial Welfare Society . Through the presidency of Prince Albert, later King of the United Kingdom George VI. , in the 1920s and 1930s the organization came into public interest. In 1965 the name was shortened to The Industrial Society . Since 2002 it has operated under the name The Work Foundation ; Prince Philip has been its patron since 1954 .
