Thebes (Lasker student)

Thebes is a book by Else Lasker-Schüler , it was written around 1923.

The main character and the center of attention is Prince Yusuf of Thebes . The unique combination of poems and pictures in this book, the text-picture cycle of the double-gifted artist, creates a new one out of ten of her poems in facsimile handwriting - including "An old Tibetan carpet" and "My people" - with drawings specially created by her , fascinating whole, at the center of which is her poetic alter ego, Prince Yusuf of Thebes. She colored each copy by hand, so each is unique . A new edition of the volume was published in 2002.
