Themis Christophidou

Themis Christophidou is a Cypriot EU official and has been Director General of the Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture since March 2018 .

Life

Themis Christophidou studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens with a master's degree in 1986. She then worked in the Greek construction industry. In 1995 she moved to Brussels as a consultant to the Council of European Municipalities and Regions . From 1998 to 2001 she was a capacity building consultant in the enlargement states.

She joined the European Commission in 2001 in the Directorate for Regional Policy, where she held various positions. From 2011 to 2018 she was deputy head of cabinet and head of cabinet for the commissioners Androulla Vassiliou , Maria Damanaki and Christos Stylianides .
