Croix-des-Bouquets is a municipality in the Ouest department in Haiti . It is located 12.9 kilometers northeast of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince and had a population of 140,000 in 2015. Originally located on the coast, it was moved inland after an earthquake in Port-au-Prince in 1770. Croix-des-Bouquets is now a northern suburb of the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince. The city is on the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, where many people grow foods like beans, sweet potatoes, and corn. She is also known for making sculptures.
On March 22, 1792, the city was the scene of one of the first battles of the Haitian Revolution . More than 1000 people were killed in the fighting between the French colony of Saint-Domingue and insurgent slaves.
After the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the Cuban Medical Mission established a field hospital in the area. Because it was inland, the city was less badly damaged than other cities.
