Theodosios (Patriarch of Antioch)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theodosios († June 1, 896 ) was Patriarch of Antioch of the Syrian Orthodox Church .

The one baptized in the name of Romanos was a monk of the Qartamin monastery. He was interested in pharmacy and philosophy and wrote his own writings in both areas. Since the electoral synod gathered in Amida ( Diyarbakır ) could not agree on a name, the new patriarch was determined by lot . The lot fell on February 5, 887 to the monk Theodosios, who was granted only a relatively short term of office.
