Therm ( unit symbol : thm ) is an Anglo-American unit of measurement for the physical quantity of energy or heat . It is derived from the British thermal unit (BTU):
- 1 thm = 100,000 BTU = 105.5056 × 10 6 joules
One therm corresponds to about 29.3 kWh . The unit is mainly used in the international natural gas industry, where oil units (toe, boe) are less common.
