history

Shortly after 1945 there were initial ideas in Geinberg to establish the place as a thermal, spa or bathing resort . However, it took more than 50 years for this to actually happen.

In 1974 RAG was drilling for crude oil and came across hot sodium hydrogen carbonate chloride mineral sulfur thermal water at a depth of 1234 m . The borehole was closed again because RAG was neither authorized to use the hot water resources nor interested in it in the long term.

With the support of the Province of Upper Austria , a local interest group financed a new drilling in 1980 - this time with the aim of tapping the hot water supply. With success. One came across one of the richest and hottest healing springs in Central Europe.

The VAMED Group then began project development in 1991, which was completed in 1996.

In July 1996 the groundbreaking for the construction of the Geinberg thermal baths took place and it was opened on May 4, 1998.

With an investment volume of 54.4 million euros on an area of 102,000 m 2 in the municipality of Geinberg , the thermal center was the largest construction site in Upper Austria until it opened.

The expansion by a conference center and the sauna world as well as the construction of the cascade pool with panorama hall and bar took place in 2000.

In 2005, the thermal baths were expanded to include the Caribbean salt water lagoon, relaxation rooms and the Caribbean restaurant. The floatarium in the relaxation oasis followed later, as well as exclusive treatment and relaxation areas and additional cloakrooms.

In 2012 the new gourmet restaurant AQARIUM, the Oriental World with Hamam and the Geinberg 5 Private SPA Villas, which were built in 2012, opened. The resort's luxury product impresses with 21 private SPA villas ranging in size from 114 to 300 m². There is also butler service, a separate wellness area in each villa and two spacious swimming ponds with a private bay and garden.

Most recently, the Panorama Lounge was opened in 2017 and the Relax! Garden opened.
