Thomas Breustedt

Thomas Breustedt (born October 15, 1959 in Montreal , Canada) is a German journalist and ministerial official. From 2010 to 2017 he was State Secretary and Spokesman for the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

After graduating from high school in 1979 in Bensberg , Breustedt completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk until 1982, which was followed by a degree in economics until 1989.

After a traineeship, he worked for the Kölner Stadtanzeiger and Express in various positions from 1989 , most recently until 2001 as head of department in the regional office of Express Düsseldorf. He switched to the state service of North Rhine-Westphalia as press spokesman , initially in the Ministry of Federal and European Affairs until 2003, then until 2005 in the Ministry of Science and Research. After the change of government, he was press spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group from 2005 to 2010. From 2010 to 2017 he was State Secretary and Government Spokesman.
