Thomas Clamor

Thomas Clamor (* 1963 in Minden / Westphalia) is a German conductor .

Life

Thomas Clamor studied trumpet and percussion at the Detmold University of Music . In 1986 Herbert von Karajan engaged the 23 year old trumpeter as the youngest member of the Berlin Philharmonic at the time . At the end of the 2009/2010 season he ended his activity in the orchestra and in 2011 became chief conductor of the Saxon Wind Philharmonic and Artistic Director of the German Wind Academy. Thomas Clamor has been Professor hc at the Shanghai University of Music since 2001 and has taught in this role at the Hanns Eisler music academies in Berlin, Detmold and Weimar. In 2015, Federal President Gauck awarded him the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
