The Shanghai Music Academy ( Chinese  上海 音乐 学院 , Pinyin Shànghǎi Yīnyuè Xuéyuàn ) is the oldest music academy in China.

history

The Shanghai Music Academy goes back to the Shanghai Conservatory, which Cai Yuanpei founded on November 27, 1927. The first director was Xiao Youmei (蕭友梅; Shio Yiu-mei), who graduated from the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .
