Thomas Gerst

Thomas Gerst (* 1957 ) is a German philologist . He is the editor for health and social policy of Deutsches Ärzteblatt ; in this function he documented a. a. the "decisive importance of Ludwig Sievers for the German medical profession in the period from 1945 to the end of the 1950s".

Gerst received his doctorate in 1997 at the University of Stuttgart in social history with a thesis on medical professional organization and professional politics in Germany 1945-1955 (published in 2004 by Franz Steiner Verlag ).

In 1999 he published the book Im Dienst der Ärzteschaft in Deutsches Ärzte-Verlag .
