Thomas Junghans

Thomas Junghans (* 1956 in Recklinghausen ) is a German sculptor. The main focus of his artistic work are sculptures made of wood, bronze or iron.

biography

Thomas Junghans began his artistic training in 1971 at the Stadsacademie Maastricht, Netherlands. He then attended the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht for a year in 1981 and continued his studies at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences with Lutz Brockhaus and Wilhelm Schürmann from 1982 to 1985. Junghans has been exhibiting as a freelance artist in museums, art associations and galleries across Europe since 1981.

Wood, bronze and iron are the preferred materials of the sculptor Thomas Junghans. For him, the legends of antiquity are of current importance to this day. The artist is particularly fascinated by the image of man, the image stylized into myth and mystery. His reduced and partially abstracted sculptures appear archaic, as if they were exposed to time and weather.
