The Bode Galerie & Edition is a gallery for modern and contemporary art in Nuremberg and Daegu (South Korea). It is a member of the Federal Association of German Galleries and Art Dealers and is the only German gallery in the Gallery Association of Daegu.

history

The Bode & Edition gallery was founded in Nuremberg in 1984 by the German gallery owner and art publisher Klaus D. Bode (* 1962). Klaus D. Bode is a founding member of the Federal Association of German Art Publishers, for which he was also an honorary member of the board. For the association he sat on the committee of the German Cultural Council and participated in the merger of the association with the Federal Association of Galleries to what is now the Federal Association of German Galleries and Art Publishers.

Since its foundation, the Bode Galerie has conveyed art from the classic genres: painting, sculpture and original graphics with a focus on representational contemporary art. With passion, the Bode Galerie conveys artistic positions that are characterized by their timeless and unique design language and thus provide decisive impulses within contemporary art. The works of the represented artists are presented in solo and group exhibitions. In addition, the Bode Galerie is active in the art trade, so in 2017 the exhibition "Reinz Collection" took place, including works by Ernst Wilhelm Nay , Willi Baumeister , Fernando Botero and Pablo Picasso .

The gallery is located in the city center of Nuremberg on Lorenzer Strasse in the neighborhood of the New Museum and the Nuremberg Art Gallery . The gallery has also had a regular presence in Asia since 2007. In addition to participating in art fairs in China and Korea, the gallery artists have been presented in their own gallery rooms in Daegu (South Korea) since 2014 and thus offer their artists a platform for the sustainable communication of artistic concepts in the East Asian region. This intercultural bridge enables the Bode Galerie to convey exceptional South Korean artists such as Woo Jong-Taek to the German cultural area.

The artists represented by the gallery include Peter Angermann , Donata Benker , Ottmar Hörl , Tillmann Damrau , Thomas Junghans , Dietrich Klinge , Roger Libesch , Herbert Maier , Harry Meyer , Cony Theis , Bernd Schwarting , Ralf Klement , Menno Fahl and Woo Jong- Taek .

In addition, the works are looked after exclusively from the estate of the German-American artist Karl Hagedorn . Since 2017, the Bode Galerie has been working closely with the estate of the German post-war artist Max Ackermann and is realizing, among other things, the first solo exhibition in Asia with the artist.

The cooperation with the gallery artists is characterized by close personal contact and regular shows at home and abroad. Various exhibitions are also curated in art associations with artists such as Karl Hagedorn or Harry Meyer. Thanks to close contacts to South Korea and its museums, Galerie Bode was able to realize an exhibition in the Indang Museum in Daegu with the exceptional German sculptor Dietrich Klinge.

In order to shed light on interesting positions in art history, the Bode Galerie regularly shows exhibitions of art historically important positions such as Otto Piene , Georg Baselitz , Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali in addition to the gallery artists .

The gallery's publishing house publishes catalogs, monographs and catalog raisonnés of the gallery artists.
