Tillmann Damrau

Tillmann Damrau (* 1961 in Freudenstadt ) is a German painter . Since 2016 he has been professor of painting at the Technical University of Dortmund.

Life

From 1983 to 1989 Tillmann Damrau studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He was a master student of Robin Page . In 1987 Damrau received a scholarship from the Anniversary Scholarship Foundation of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In the following year the young artist was supported by the Mathias-Pschorr-Hackerbräu Foundation . From 1994 to 1996 Damrau received a studio grant from the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . Since 2000 he has been a member of the Artists Association of Baden-Württemberg . In 2005 he was awarded the Limburg City Art Prize.

From 2000 Damrau took on teaching assignments, workshops and lectures at the Philipps University in Marburg , the Reutlingen University , the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences , the Rotenfels Castle State Academy, the Technical University of Dortmund and the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi . In the years 2007 to 2008 and 2014 to 2015 Damrau was given a substitute professorship at the Institute for Fine Arts in the Department of German Studies and Art Studies at the Philipps University of Marburg. In addition, Damrau was involved in the e-transform research project at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus from 2013 to 2016 .

In the 2016 winter semester, Tillmann Damrau was appointed to a professorship for painting at the Institute for Art and Material Culture at the Technical University of Dortmund .
