Thomas Thynne (* before 1566; † 1625 ) was an English politician.

Thomas Thynne came from the English Thynne family . He was the third son of Sir John Thynne and his first wife Christian Gresham. After the death of their father in 1580, his older brother John inherited his extensive estates in south-west England. In the general election of 1593 Thomas, probably at the instigation of his brother, was elected MP for the small town of Heytesbury in Wiltshire . In the election of 1597, he did not run again. In 1602 he acquired Biddestone Manor in Biddestone St Nicholas in northern Wiltshire. There he married one of the two unmarried daughters of Thomas Erneley from Brembridge, who died in 1595, around 1600, although it is not known whether he had married Ann or Dorothy. Thynne and his wife had two sons and three daughters, including

  • Henry Thynne
  • Thomas Thynne

He also had a proven illegitimate son, Thomas Glanfield. His heir became his eldest son, Henry.
