Torah (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thora was a dark rock band founded in Aachen in April 1999 .

The music was characterized by solemn, sometimes melancholy melodies and powerful riff-emphasized passages. A lot of work was done with a hard but melodic guitar, rhythmic basis and atmospheric keyboard parts. The music was particularly shaped by the singer's emotional vocals. This resulted in a mixture of dark, ballad-like and up-tempo pieces.

Band history

After a demo CD called Dark Season and some appearances in the Aachen area, the first LP Cross Nailed was released in September 2000 . This ten-song album was well received.

The second album Total World Paranoia was directed by Dennis Ward. It was released in 2004 in self-production and, in addition to the 13 songs, also contained a video for Crucify God . In 2005 the album was re-released on the Fearsection label and instead contained a video for the song Total World Paranoia .

Thora received many good reviews from magazines and had been a contract band with BMG since 2000 . They won the Jägermeister band competition and therefore opened two HIM shows in Germany as the opening act. At the Metal Battle of the magazine Metal Hammer they reached the final and played at the Wacken Open Air 2004. In May 2005 they performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig.

In 2007 Thora released the album Baby No. 666 , which was offered to the fans for free download on the band's homepage.

In April 2009 the band announced their breakup on their website.

Despite the dissolution, the final album Scars was released digitally on the afmusic label in May 2010 .
