Accession to the throne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Middle Ages, the enthronement was an important part of the elevation of the king , for example in 936 when Otto I was elevated to the throne of Charles in Aachen .

Comparable processes are the enthronement of the Pope : enthronement , old traditions, where the king was placed on a sacred stone (cf. for the Scottish king on the stone of Scone ) and the elevation of a duke by occupying the ducal seat in contrast to the elevation of a shield .
