Tianyi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tianyi is the pen name of the Chinese writer Liu , who publishes homoerotic novels. She was therefore sentenced to ten years in prison on October 31, 2018.

The ruling attracted widespread attention first in China, and eventually worldwide, because it is widely shared on the Internet and the harsh sentence is debated. Tianys is said to have sold 7,000 copies online and earned 150,000 yuan, that's just under 19,000 euros. She is said to have been arrested in 2017 after the great success of her novel Occupy on charges of describing "obscene sexual behavior between men".

The manufacture and distribution of pornography is strictly prohibited in China. However, homoerotic self-published publications have been enjoying increasing popularity for several years. Hundreds of new titles can be found every month, many of which have already been filmed. Most of these publications do not explicitly describe homosexual relationships but only hint at them.
