The salient nunatak (from English salient , 'striking, striking, prominent' ) is a distinctive and pointed nunatak in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It rises 5 km northeast of Mount Glossopteris on the north side of the Ohio Range in the Horlick Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and using aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1958 to 1969. The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee as part of fieldwork for the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program between 1983 and 1984.
