Tianyuan

Tianyuan ( Chinese  天元 , Pinyin Tiānyuán , Jyutping Tin 1 jyun 4 ), literally "origin of heaven, heavenly origin", is the center of the game board of the game of Go . It is also the name of a go tournament ( 天元 戰  /  天元 战 , Tiānyuánzhàn , Jyutping Tin 1 jyun 4 zin 3 ) for professionals in China , which corresponds to the tengen ( Japanese 天元 , kana て ん げ ん ) of the Nihon Kiins in Japan.

Tianyuan is organized by the Chinese Go Association, Zhongguo Qiyuan , and sponsored by two newspapers. The preliminary rounds are a direct knockout tournament, while the final title fight between challenger and title holder consists of a series of three games. The tournament is endowed with 200,000 CNY (around 27,000 euros).
