The grave inscription of the imperial freedman Tiberius Claudius Eudaemon , who was responsible for the personal care of the emperor Claudius ( AE 2004, 209 )

Tiberius Claudius Eudaemon lived in the 1st century and was a freedman ( libertus ) of the emperor Claudius . He served as a chamberlain ( cubicularius ) at the imperial court, where he was responsible for the personal care of the princeps and his family. Tiberius Claudius Eudaemon is only known from the epitaph which emphasizes him as decurio cubic (ulariorum) . He was the superior of a group of ten valets ( cubicularii ) who were presumably assigned to him by the highest chamberlain ( a cubiculo ) of the imperial household ( cubiculum ).
