Animal welfare advisor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Animal welfare advisors are people who are committed to animal welfare by checking animal husbandry and ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Most of them do voluntary work on behalf of an animal welfare association.

Their tasks include controls in the context of the placement of animals from animal shelters . The aim is to determine whether the animal is being kept in a species-appropriate manner by the new owner and whether the conditions specified in the placement contract are being observed. In addition, animal welfare advisors follow up on reports of violations of the Animal Welfare Act or ordinances under animal welfare law. However, they do not have sovereign powers and must therefore involve the competent authorities ( veterinary office , in urgent cases the police).

The regional associations of the German Animal Welfare Association train animal welfare advisors in seminars and issue a corresponding ID after having passed the examination.
