Tigerella is a variety of tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ). The Tigerella and the American Mr. Stripey variety are often mistakenly considered to be identical. However, Mr. Stripey is a much larger and differently colored beefsteak tomato.

description

A clear distinguishing feature of the Tigerella are the green, red and yellow stripes. It is characterized above all by its unique, almost fruity taste.

Note on sowing

The seeds should be sown 1.5 mm deep in late winter to spring under good light conditions. Germination takes about 6 to 14 days at temperatures between 24 and 27 ° C.

Note on planting

When the seedlings are large enough (i.e. as soon as the first correct pair of leaves has formed after the cotyledons), they should be pricked into 8 cm pots and later repotted in pots or wax bags at a distance of 45 to 60 cm. Tigerellas can be planted outside from the end of May. It should be noted that they are always well watered. Tigerella thrives excellently in a protected location with sufficient sunlight and nutrient-rich soil.

Instructions for care

The plants are dependent on climbing aids and repeated tying. It is important that only one main shoot thrives properly and that the side drives are constantly removed.
