Tillamook Bay
The Tillamook Bay is a Pacific -Bay in northwestern US state of Oregon . Its length is approx. 10 km, its width approx. 3 km. The municipalities of Garibaldi , Bay City and Tillamook lie on it .
history
The bay was discovered in August 1788 by Robert Gray (1755-1806). The settlement organized from 1848 Elbridge Trask (1815–1863). At the same time, the number of Indians in the region decreased: from around 2,200 in 1805 to 200 in 1900 and 139 in 1970.
During the Second World War , the Tillamook US Naval Station of the United States Navy was located on the bay . The facility was closed in 1948.
