Tim Rumsey

Tim Rumsey (* 1977 in Lincoln / Nebraska ) is an American composer, music teacher and music publisher.

Rumsey had piano and trumpet lessons in his childhood and was already active as a composer and arranger during his studies at the Adventist Union College in Lincoln. He played in the Union College band and a wind sextet. After graduating in 2000, he earned a Masters Degree in Music Theory and Composition from James Madison University . In 2012, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Georgia . His dissertation was the oratorio Neither Life Nor Death for soloists, choir, orchestra and organ.

After graduating from Union College, Rumsey taught music in the Shenandoah Valley area for seven years. In 2008 he founded the music publisher Laudation Music for contemporary music, church music and educational works. From 2009 to 2012 he taught at the Bass Memorial Academy in Mississippi. He released two CDs, Hymns for Brass and Emanuel , a collection of Christmas music for choir and for orchestra. The Czech Philharmonic recorded music from Rumseys in the eleventh part of their Masterworks of the Modern Era series .
