Time Out Film Guide

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Time Out Film Guide was an annual paperback film compendium from London- based Time Out.

Each volume offered a cross-section of classic and current films, with all entries from older editions and supplemented by films that have been started since the previous edition. The entries (most recently 19,000) listed the country of manufacture, the year of publication, the running time, the director and the most important actors, supplemented by a short review of approx. 300–1,200 characters. The reviews came from the London edition of the global Time Out magazine . The writers included notable critics and filmmakers such as Raymond Durgnat , Phil Hardy , Tom Milne , Geoff Andrew, and Chris Petit .

The final part of the book provided an overview of the most important film prizes awarded, including the Oscars , the British Academy Film Awards and the festival prizes awarded in Cannes and Venice .

The Time Out Film Guide was first published in 1991 and for the last time (under the title Time Out Film Guide 2011 ) in September 2010. All reviews are also available online on the Time Out London website.
