Timed up and go test

The timed up and go test is a simple mobility test for assessing mobility or body balance and the resulting risk of falling, especially for aging people .

  • Execution: The person sits on a chair with armrests. When asked, she should get up - without outside help - walk a distance of 3 m, turn around and sit down again. She may use aids such as a crutch.
  • Question / measurement method: Measurement of the time required for the process.
  • Interpretation: less than 10 seconds: unrestricted everyday mobility, 10 - 19 seconds: slight mobility impairment, i. d. Usually still without everyday relevance, 20-29 seconds: functionally relevant mobility impairment that needs clarification, 30 and more seconds: pronounced mobility impairment
  • Time required: approx. 5 minutes

Advantages of the test method: easy to carry out, no tools required
