Timothy II (Catholicos)

Timotheos II. († around 1332 ) was Catholicos Patriarch of the East Syrian Church of the East .

He initially worked under the name of Joseph as Bishop of Mosul and was elected and consecrated Catholicos in 1318. When he ascended the throne, he held a synod , the resolutions of which have been preserved. His main work "On the seven reasons of the ecclesiastical secrets" is a comprehensive explanation of the sacramental celebrations in the East Syrian rite .

Timotheus is perhaps the author of the account of Rabban Bar Sauma's trip to Europe.
