history

Vemag was founded as a former wood and device building company by Heinz-Jörn Zülch, a member of the Jan-Philipp Reemtsma family , in Verden in 1944. Ovens, honey extractors and church tower clocks were produced with 20 employees. A regional butcher commissioned the young company to build a piston filler for its sausage production. The demand for these pens increased and they became the main product. The original focus on traditional crafts was expanded to include industrial applications in the years of reconstruction. In 1950, the company was renamed Vemag, Verdener Maschinen- und Apparatebau GmbH, and the production of piston filling machines for the butcher's trade began. These developments were the starting point for the development and construction of the first continuous vacuum filler in 1957, which became the core product of the medium-sized company. Seven years later, the Robot G250, the first continuously operating vacuum filling machine for industry, and in 1982, the Robot 500, the first for the trade. In 1986 the first coextrusion equipment for the production of filled products was produced. Vemag entered the bakery market in 1995. In 2000, the smoking systems division was transferred to Vemag Anlagenbau GmbH as an independent company. In 2001 the shares were taken over by Robert Reiser & Co, Inc. Canton USA.
