Demonstration of the TFA teachers

The Tirocinio Formativo Attivo ( TFA for short , in German roughly teacher traineeship or teaching internship ) is a numerus clausus training process for future teachers in Italy .

It corresponds to the teaching post and the European model of teacher training.

The admission requirements include three entrance exams, which are completed by two written exams and one oral exam. The prerequisite for the TFA is a five-year course of study in the relevant subject that is to be completed.

During the TFA, the teachers are evaluated through a teaching internship. You will then have to take an additional final exam. Before taking the final exam, they must pass several exams on didactics in the relevant subjects, as well as exams on pedagogy. According to the TFA, teachers have to apply to a state advertisement in order to get a permanent employment contract in the state school. The Coordinamento Nazionale TFA has been fighting for years so that the TFA teachers get a job in the school without an additional state advertisement.

The so-called SISS - that is, the training process for teachers before the TFA - led directly to an open-ended employment contract at the school. The TFA no longer offers this option, although the two training procedures are the same at every level: Both provide for the same admission requirements, the same subjects and final exams.

The selection process for the TFA is particularly demanding: only 11,000 out of 150,000 applicants have passed the three entrance tests.
