Table cooler

Table cooler of a refrigeration machine

Table coolers are horizontally installed heat exchangers through which air flows and serve to dissipate heat to the environment.

They are drycoolers designed for outdoor installation and consist of a metal frame that is set up on feet about 50 to 100 cm above the floor. This gives them the shape of a table and that is where their name comes from. Fans are mounted on the top , mostly in two rows, which suck the air through from bottom to top. Horizontal heat exchangers, mostly made up of copper pipes with aluminum fins, are arranged in which the liquid to be cooled is cooled or the refrigerant is condensed.

The lowest cooling temperature that can be achieved is around 10 Kelvin above the air temperature, but mostly around 15 to 20 Kelvin.

Table coolers are used for:

  • Chillers as coolers
  • Gas engines for heat dissipation
  • Oil coolers in industry.
