Company history

Tiscover started in 1991 as TIS GmbH (originally short for Tirol Informations System ). The website is one of the world's first tourism platforms on the Internet, and in 1995 TIS @ WEB was launched online.

In 2001–2004 the website www.tiscover.com was set up as a European platform with holiday information from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and the country portals for Italy and Great Britain and a portal for South Africa were also launched. The concept of combining the web presence of the business customer and the platform as the booking agent was a "new form of Internet presence" and a leading European system in the eCommerce / eTourism sector

In March 2008, the takeover of Tiscover by the Cologne-based company HRS was announced at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin . Tiscover was operated under the Alpenportal label until 2009 and expanded to include additional holiday regions in 2020.
