Tita (painter)
Tita was a painter documented in Miran , in Ser India ( Central Asia , present-day China ) in the 3rd century AD . In the temple of M. V in Miran, which was a multi-story stupa , wall paintings were found , including one with the Kharosthi inscription:
- This fresco is the work of Tita, who received 3,000 bhammakas for it .
It has been suggested that the name Tita is the transliteration of the Latin name Titus . The paintings do indeed show western influence. Artist signatures are also well attested in Central Asia during this period.
