Titus Aufidius (medic)
Titus Aufidius was a in the second half of the 1st century BC. Living Greek doctor who came from Sicily .
He was a student of Asklepiades of Bithynia . In research he is identified as Titus , whom the late antique doctor Caelius Aurelianus referred to as a student of Asklepiades , who wrote a work on the soul (De anima) in at least two books and another on chronic diseases (Tardae passiones) . Against inflammation of the chest , Aufidius used toweling twice a day - which method of treatment Caelius Aurelianus refused - and as a remedy for mental illness he recommended tying and scourging the patient, exposing him to hunger and thirst, but also with wine to feed and to satisfy his sexual instinct.
