Titus Visulanius Crescens

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Titus Visulanius Crescens was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD . Individual stations of his career are known through an inscription.

Crescens was initially twice Praefectus fabrum . This was followed by his military career, which consisted of the usual tres militiae for a member of the equestrian order . He initially took over the management of a Cohors II Gallorum as prefect . As commander of this unit, he is still documented by a military diploma dated August 14, 1999. The diploma shows that he commanded the Cohors II Gallorum , which at that time was stationed in the province of Moesia inferior . Subsequently he was Tribunus militum of the Cohors I Civium Romanorum . The third stage was the post of Praefectus equitum of the Ala Moesica .

After his military career, he held the post of censor in the province of Germania inferior .

Remarks

  1. There were several units with this designation (see Cohors II Gallorum ). The inscription does not reveal which unit Crescens commanded.
