Tlokwe City Council (English Tlokwe City Council Local Municipality , also Tlokwe for short ) is a former municipality in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district , Northwest Province in South Africa . The administrative seat was Potchefstroom , whose name the municipality bore until 2007. In 2016 it was merged with the municipality of Ventersdorp to form the municipality of Tlokwe / Ventersdorp (NW405), which was renamed JB Marks in 2017 .

The parish was named after the name Tlokwe for the town of Potchefstroom. In 2011, 162,762 people lived in the municipality on an area of ​​2674 square kilometers.
