Cao Chungeng

Cao Chungeng ( Chinese  曹春耕 ; * November 1917 in Laiwu , Shandong ; † December 1978 ) was a diplomat of the People's Republic of China , who was ambassador to Norway between 1972 and 1976 and assistant foreign minister in 1978.

Life

Cao Chungeng was a messenger from January 1933 to June 1934 and then between June 1934 and October 1935 District Party Secretary and Acting Head of Public Relations for the Communist Party of China (CCP) Committee in Laiwu . He then served between October 1935 and November 1949 successively as a political instructor of a company of the 4th guerrilla group in Shandong and as general secretary of the Taishan District Party Committee . He later served as secretary of the Xinfu Party Committee and head of the Education Department in the Luzhong Party Committee, before he was Secretary of the Boshan District Party Committee and head of the Personnel Department of the Zibo District Free City Party Committee . In December 1948 he also became a military representative in the State Cotton Mills No. 6 and No. 8 in Qingdao and was then until June 1954 first director of the technology department of the textile administration authority of East China and then deputy director general of the supervisory office in the Ministry of Textile Industry.

Cao then served as an advisor to the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam between June 1954 and April 1955 and, after his return, from April 1955 to 1965 as deputy general director of the Beijing City Planning Commission , before he was general director of the General Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1965 and September 1972. In September 1972 he replaced Hao Deqing as ambassador to Norway and remained in this post until December 1977, whereupon Liu Shuqing succeeded him in May 1977. Most recently he was assistant foreign minister from March 1978 until his death in December 1978 and at the same time a member of the party group of the foreign ministry.
