Lawenatobel, seen from Triesen

According to tradition from the time of witch persecution, Tobelhocker , also Brenner , are the inhabitants of various families from Triesen , including Triesenberg , in Liechtenstein , who were symbolically ostracized by a probably unique reversal of the witch persecution motifs. This legend relates to the witch trials in Triesen .

Explanation

According to legend, the souls of the people who reported the alleged witches were banished deep into the Lawenatobel between Triesen and Balzers . This “curse” did not only apply to the perpetrators, but also to their descendants up to the ninth generation.

The "Tobelhocker" were banished to the Lawenatobel and had to sit on stones at a large stone table and sleep in a stone cave.
