Tokinosumika bell
The Tokinosumika bell ( Japanese 之 栖 の ベ ル , Tokinosumika no bere ) or actually Ai no Kane ( 愛 の 鐘 , "bell of love") was commissioned by the Japanese entrepreneur Kiyozaku Shoji. He operates a resort with a large park in Gotemba (Japan). It was cast in 2006 by the Eijsbouts bell foundry in Asten ( Netherlands ) and is the largest bell in Japan and the largest ringing bell in the world (on the cranked yoke).
A frieze with the sun, moon, planets and stars is attached under the eight-armed crown. The inscription below reads: "Vivos voco, mortuos plango, fulgura frango, Eijsbouts Astensis me fecit anno 2006" (I call the living, I mourn the dead, I break the lightning. Eijsbouts from Asten made me in 2006). On the side is the silhouette of a bird, the logo of the resort Tokinosumika. The names indicate the place, the prefecture and the resort.
The bell weighs 36,250 kg, has a diameter of 3.82 m and is 3.72 m high. The nominal / strike tone is G sharp.
