The Toledo Bullfrogs (German: Toledo Bullfrogs) were a planned arena football team from Toledo , Ohio that was to play in the af2 .

history

In September 2008, a group of investors, which also owns the Toledo Walleye ice hockey franchise , announced that af2 had assigned a team to Toledo and that it should start playing in 2010. In November 2008 the name of the team was announced. It is Toledo Bullfrogs and goes back to the history of Toledo, which is closely connected to the Great Black Swamp . In addition, the team colors, green, black and orange, and the logo, a frog head with a football helmet, were presented. After the Arena Football League was suspended in 2009, neither the af2 nor the Bullfrogs were affected. In 2010 the team should finally start playing, but af2 had previously reported bankruptcy. Before that, over 2,200 season tickets had already been sold. The Bullfrogs had the opportunity to go to the Arena Football League, which started playing again in 2010, but this option was not taken because those in charge did not like the league structure. Football was only played in Toledo Arena with the Toledo Crush .
