The Tolino Vision 2 is an e-book reader from the Tolino Alliance that has been available since 2014 . The innovations compared to the previous Tolino Vision model include water protection and scrolling by tapping the back ("tap2flip"). The predecessor's microSD card expandable memory has been omitted. The housing color is black instead of brown.

In October 2015, the direct successor to the Tolino Vision 2, the Tolino Vision 3 HD, appeared .

properties

Water protection

One of the most important changes that differentiate the Tolino Vision 2 from its predecessor is the water protection. The device is waterproof, but not waterproof. This means that water can penetrate the device and run out again, but the e-book reader is not damaged. The protection is achieved with nanotechnology from the company HZO and by sealing all plug contacts inside, which makes repairing or replacing individual components and the battery more difficult or even impossible. According to HZO, the device achieves a protection class of IPX67 (dustproof, complete protection against contact, protection against temporary immersion) and IPX7. According to the manufacturer, the water protection should be sufficient for 30 minutes at a depth of one meter in fresh water . The Tolino Vision 2 should also tolerate other liquids if it is rinsed off after contact and dried for 48 hours.

tap2flip

The Tap2flip function, which can also be switched off, allows you to turn the pages with just one hand by tapping the back of the device, which is equipped with a vibration sensor. Inadvertent page turning or double page forwarding should be prevented by a relatively high pressure force required to trigger the sensor button and an integrated delay mechanism. It is not possible to scroll back or access the menu. Protective covers for the Tolino Vision 2 have an open back for using the function.

Awards

The Tolino Vision 2 was the test winner of the Stiftung Warentest in a comparison of six e-book readers with Adobe compatibility. The e-book reader received the grade “very good” (1.5). The SFT magazine (issue 2/2015) also awarded the Tolino Vision 2 the grade “Very Good” (1.2) and named it the test winner. The Tolino Vision 2 was also able to achieve the grade “Very Good” (1.5) in the e-book reader comparison atread.net.
