Tolmides
Tolmides (Τολμίδης), son of Tolmaios, was an Athenian strategist in the 5th century BC. BC. He was a radical democratic followers of Pericles , led 456/54 v. A fleet company against the Peloponnesian League and fought in Boeotia in 455/54 . 447 BC He led clergy from Athens to the islands of Euboea and Naxos . In the same year he commanded the united armies of the Attic League to suppress a Boeotian uprising, but against the advice of Pericles he did not wait for reinforcements and fell at the Battle of Koroneia . With its defeat, Athens had lost its hegemony over central Greece.
