Despite his left hip disarticulation, he played drums in the Frankfurt hardcore / metal band The Green River Burial from 2010 to 2013 . He became known to the public in 2018 through various obstacle courses and climbing the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro .
He gained a lot of attention with the film Mbuzi Dume - Starke Ziege , which was shown for the first time in selected cinemas worldwide as part of the European Outdoor Film Tour 2018/2019 (EOFT for short). In the approx. 20-minute documentary, Belz describes his friendship with Klaus Siegler, the doctor who treated him at the time, and how he dealt with a supposed disability - my disability is no excuse .
In 2019, Belz received the Made For More Award from Sport Scheck in the Explorer category , an award for special personalities in sport.
