Tomaru
The Tomaru ( Japanese 唐 丸 ) is a breed of long crane known in Japan for centuries .
origin
The name is derived from the black plumage color and means "black crow", in contrast to the Japanese "red crow", the Totenko . According to legends, the tomaru was introduced from China at the time of the Tang Dynasty and was further developed in Japan.
features
The breed comes only in black color stroke in front with green paint. The body is broad and compact with a filled chest. The legs are slate gray. The comb is simple. The ear flaps and face are red, although melanotic discoloration is permitted in the hens. The crow call is two-syllable, deepens towards the end and lasts up to twelve seconds. The tail is long and can touch the ground with the tips of the feathers so that the breed is also assigned to the long-tailed chickens.
