Tomato sponge

Tomato sponge is a food substitute for tomatoes . It usually consists of a mixture of tomato paste and starch that can be floated with water. The advantage over fresh tomatoes lies in the greater malleability, the easy removal or addition of water and the associated ease of transport.
Tomato sponge is mainly used in the production of ready-made and frozen meals .
